Run a google search on "oshpo" and "rust" and you'll get a lot of good advice about it's application and use.

 

... and it is spelled with an "o" instead of an "a" in case you had trouble with that.

Buy some OSHPO ----Spray it on and let it dry----It turns iron oxide (rust) to iron sulfate----When it turns black you can color paint it to match ----Wire brush first----it may take more than one application of ASHPO---Mike Popp
