I think that's right - as to the year for the first catalytic converter.
However, unless you care enough about air quality to insist on keeping your
cat in full operation even for the few miles you drive each year, or unless
you live in CA where we HAVE to keep our cats going forever, I'd think you
could switch to the older formulation oils without worry.  When your car was
new, the then current oil rating was "SE", which should agree with your
owner's manual - that had around 0.130% ZDDP, if I recall correctly, so your
cat is probably already not up to snuff.

Dick,
    So this means with my car 1975, the ZDDP is not a good thing,
as it has a catalytic converter in it.  My understanding is that
the 1975's were the first year to get the converter.
