RE: IML: Lead Additive

I would have thought that the hardened valve-seats came earlier than '73-- I
may be wrong, but wasn't there a change in fuel-requirements some where in
the middle of 1969 production? I'm sure someone here will know. I thought
the unleaded fuel was needed across the board in about 1970.
My '63 and '67 Imps get a diet of a few gallons of leaded premium- sold in
several places here as racing-gas- and then the rest of the tank gets topped
off with 92 or 93 unleaded premium; they both run well with no pinging. I
always carry either five or ten gallons of the racing-fuel in cans when I
travel and feed it to the tank as needed.
And I add my thanks, admiration, and appreciation to those who have fought,
were injured, or died to preserve our freedoms.

The owners manual for my 73 states you may use both leaded or unleaded. The
production date on the vehicle is 11/72. Not sure of the casting numbers or
if this version of 440 was used across the board in other Mopars.
