The major reason, the trans pan had no drain, was when the fluid was changed, the bands were also adjusted as part of the fluid, and filter change.Many fleet cars, like taxi's, police,and municipal trucks, did in fact have pans with drain plugs.As far as the MASSES, penny's save were dollars earned.The trans maintenance, brought you back to the Dealer, and maybe a trade-in.Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.

With all the talk recently about transmission fluid, magnets and what not, makes me wonder why transmission pans don't have drain plugs like oil pans do, and if it makes any sense to install one to make future maintenance easier?
