Simulated chrome spray paint is probably your best bet. You want something with a little bit of diffusion in it to spread the light throughout the “bucket.” Clean contacts, fresh bulbs, and a little dielectric grease in the contacts should help, and thoroughly wash the insides of the lenses while you have it all apart.

These are enormous taillamps so the tend to be quite visible if they are working properly. Make sure the flasher unit paces properly (even at idle with the headlamps on, when a weak alternator or regulator can slow down the flashes to a lethargic glow), and you should be in good shape. The one downside of these lamps is when direct sunlight hits them. Those chrome grilles over the lamps can out-dazzle the illumination of the lamps. But with over 100 cubic inches of taillamp, hopefully some part will shine through.

Remember, on the 67, unlike the 68, all three bulbs on each side are used for both taillamps (dim filament) and turn/brake lamps (bright filament). Back the car up near a plate glass window (like a strip-mall storefront) and you can check all the rear lamps in your rearview mirror. I recommend trying it both in daylight and in the dark of night.
