As Chris correctly pointed out, you don’t want a mirror type reflection – the right surface is a frosty appearance such as you would get from spray aluminum paint.


Actually, in the case of all 3 of the 67-68s I’ve owned, just taking the fixture apart and carefully cleaning and polishing the lens and reflector has rewarded me with brand new looking tail lights, which are very bright and clear looking – you couldn’t hope for anything better.

Can someone explain what "vacuum chromed" is?

 

Also re the reflectors and spray paint, what about if you got some of those mirror tiles and glued them behind the bulbs?
