Re: IML: 67 LeBaron brakes

In my 69 LeBaron with the Budd brakes I would say that the pedal feel is mushy and the pedal is too close to the floor.
However, the brakes seem to work fine and much better than the same era drum brake in my opinion.

How do you restrict the vacuum to the brake booster?

The brakes on my 67 Crown have always been reassuringly firm for a 1960s
American luxury car. I've always thought they have great feel and are easy
to modulate, and would never think to describe them as numb and light or
touchy. The pedal is almost a little higher than I'd expect.

But maybe there is some variation among 40yo cars, depending on their usage
and service history. Mine also had the Budd calipers replaced with later
Chrysler single-pistons long before I bought it (and I bought it 18 years
ago), so maybe that makes mine an odd man out.

I've also never thought my power steering was numb and light! Have you ever
driven a 1970s F*rd? The Imperial is direct and smooth, even if I can drive
with my pinky... Maybe your steering box needs adjustment (is there free
play?).

Just my $0.04 (two subjects, twice the price)...
