Too bad, that it can't be done with the tank in place. I am a little affraid to damage the connection between filler pipe and the tank.

But maybe I should take the risk and see what happens. Btw, those J bolts are pretty hard to find in my country I am afraid..

I removed mine from my 60 in the fall to replace my fuel tank. I don't think you can get it out without dropping the tank. I tried, not aggressiveley because I was going to replace the tank anyway, but it seemed as though it wouldn't have made it out. Removing the tank is pretty straightforward and the J bolts are real easy to source. I cut the J bolts off.
