Maybe, W.P., had an affection for particular New York cities, for his car lines. Saratoga, NewPort, Windsor, New Yorker, Southhampton, even Belvedere. As well as the Chrysler building. Just a thought. Dave.

While we're talking about "Southampton" with one "H",
I always assumed the Imperial was named after the rich
and famous locale on Long Island. But there are a
number of other Southamptons. Does anyone know whether
it is the New York town, or some other one? Or was it
just because the name sounded good?
