Crank case flushing, can be a "GRAY" area. Paul has a good point, if the engine is gunked-up bad, then dropping the pan, would be a smart way to go.It's also possible to leave it alone, and do nothing other than regular oil changes.There's really no right, or wrong answer. I will say, we've done some flushes and had some engine failure afterwards.After removing the oil pan, we found the oil pick-up screens filled with debris, things like valve stem seal pieces, old gasket pieces, timing gear nylon, and even lint from shop rags. Not to mention, the slime and goo that was loosened-up from the flush.The oil pumps also had problems, since the flush and extra trash, increased the clearances in the pump, and after changing oil, the pump would loose its prime, and not pick-up the oil during start-up.To flush, I suppose will be your personal choice, but I don't anymore.Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.
