IML: swivel seats

Dear Group, I came across this link showing the 73
Chevy Monte Carlo with swivel seats.

Was Chrysler first in the 50's with this? If not, who
had it before? Since Chevy resurrected it in the 70's,
why were they not a popular item with Chrysler cars
(including Imperials- mandatory part of this email) in
the 50's? Or perhaps they were. Thanks, Ron
