Re: IML: swivel seats

According to a lengthy article in the current/previous edition of Classic Automobile,
swivel seats were a Chrysler first for Imperials in 1959 as an answer to some complaints
about the forward look cars (beginning in 57') that sat considerably lower than previous cars. It was an adjustment for people to have to step down and into a car, after being used to pre-57' models that sat upright and more like pickup seating. (I had a 51' packard once that had a bench seat that sat as high as a pickup and the top center of the roof I couldn't even reach at 6'9" tall).
Anyway, GM re-hashed the idea in 73' on Lagunas and Monte Carlos at least that I remember.  Maybe a few ponchos and buicks too.

Was Chrysler first in the 50's with this? If not, who
had it before? Since Chevy resurrected it in the 70's,
why were they not a popular item with Chrysler cars
(including Imperials- mandatory part of this email) in
the 50's? Or perhaps they were. Thanks, Ron
