Re: [FW]Re: IML: Leatherique on Vinyl?

Once you have applied rejuvenator oil the first time, do not revert to pristine clean.  Wipe off excess oil before applying it a second time.  While leather can soak up a great deal of oil -- so much it will surprise you -- vinyl should not need a second application.  If you missed any spots it will be obvious when it is fully dry.

THANKS for the reply - that sounds like a good plan. Had a feeling it wasn't good to put that on a BLACK vinyl top to sit on while in the sun. In the 90's here today, and sunny, so it will get good and hot in the interior to really make it all soak in. Oiled the walnut on dash/doors too just for good measure.

If I may - one more question......

Did the first application on the rejuvenator lastnight. Planning to do another one tonight, as it is the first time I've used it on this interior. Question is.......... Do I 1.) wipe off lastnight's rejuvenator, and reapply rejuevenator again? or 2.) wip off lastnight's rejuvenator, apply pristine clean, THEN re-apply rejuvenator?

Really appreciate your help - this heat makes for ideal application conditions.......

Mark.

Keep the car in the shade just as if you were waxing the paint.

Absolutely do use Leatherique on vinyl inside and out. I have redone three vinyl tops with leatherique, two '66s and one '70, and there's nothing like it. Get a stiff brush and scrub the bejesus out of it to get the dirt out. Rinse, allow to dry and rub pristine clean in with your fingers. Just love it. Wait a few hours if you have time, use a clean terrycloth towel to vigorously wipe off excess. Do not rinse. Return to loving the top with your fingers, this time with the rejuvenator oil. Wait a few hours and wipe off excess. Do not rinse. No fuss, no mess. Never use anything else.

For interior vinyl, follow the manufacturer's instructions as with leather except use a lot less because vinyl won't soak up the product like leather will.

Happy motoring,

David
