 The logical approach, is a voltage test to the suspect components. Coil/ignition voltage, ballast resistor,ECM. The ballast resistor and ECM are most suspect, coils tend to be quit robust, and reliable. Since the coil gets its ground through the ECM, it appears to be the weaker link along with the ballast resistor. If you must, start by replacing least expensive first, ballast resistor, coil, ECM. I've had a few electronic failures, most were ballast resistors, some ECM, never pick-up coils..Thats also assuming wire connections, bulk-head connections, and ignition switch are proper. The electronic system, at least for me has been like my AMEX card, I never leave home without a ballast resistor, and ECM. Well it's probably running now. Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.
