No, he is likely correct.  That Imperial could have
had dual A/C as a factory option.  The compressor is
on the engine but the refrigerant lines going to and
from it are split - one set to the front evaporator,
one set to the rear evaporator.

Senior Chryslers were the only cars in that era that
gave the option of single dash mounted A/C or a dual
set-up with a second cooling unit in the trunk with
its own fan control.  Br-rr-r-r-r.
