Self-Introduction: Hi! I live in central Virginia and I'm a software engineer for a local electronics firm. I'm married with 2 kids (12 and 8).

Last November (2006) I had the itch to relive (or reacquire) a part of my youth that I unceremoniously destroyed in 1984, that being a 1971 Imperial given to me by my father. The car was originally purchased in 1972 by my dad as our family car. It had every option imaginable (at least by me at the time) and I adored the car (unlike my dad who was a point A to point B car owner). In 1979, it was given to me.

For 20+ years I longed to resurrect that car (keeping its carcass at a local body shop and purchasing a front clip). In 1996, the owner said the car had to go and offered to deliver it to my residense. Being married at the time I coundn't justify keeping it around (even though I still have the engine and transmission in my garage), so I allowed it to be crushed.

In August 2006, I saw a '71 with the same original color combination as my previous one (but repainted silver) on eBay. It was a low mileage example (only 29000 original miles!) and had a little rust in each quarter panel behind each wheel.

Well to make a long story shorter, I bought the car for $4000. A little less than a year later (Oct 2007) repaired the rust and had it returned to its original color ($2800 later).

Now I have probably one of the best examples of a 1971 Midnight Blue Imperial in existence (I challenge anyone to show me a nicer one!)

Sincerely,

Jim Corbett
