Re: IML: drum brakes

I presume that the shoes will be arced so all of the friction material will contact the brake drum?

Subject: IML: drum brakes

There seems to have been several recent problems with adjusting drum brakes.

I just received the latest copy of Auto Restorer and in it there is a short letter addressing the issue of drum brakes being too tight.

The author has used the method of grinding down the slot in the brake shoe where the adjusters insert to bring the shoes in enough to get things to fit.

Each application would be different, but this seems to be a reasonable and safe method instead of removing some of the friction material.  Comments?
