RE: IML: Alaskas youngest Imp fan

Do not fear, I too am a fellow young car fan. I'm 17 years old. I have my dad for any knowlege I need. I also
have a job but not making much. I only spend money on gas and the cars. I have three cars I would like to fix: A 69 coronet 500 wagon, 66 383 4 speed charger, and a 64 crown.

I know how you feel about winter and no garage. I live in north NEVADA. My coronet wagon is really rare, it's the only coronet wagon i have seen with factory bucket seats and a buddy seat! A/C, 3 speed wiper, And the colors are rare, red with black int. It is my daily driver and I also drive it to car shows and stuff. It has the orig engine with no major repairs! (I never worry, that 318 will never die ;) My charger is a work in progress. The 383 is being machined in Twin Falls, ID. That was my first car. I was 13. Then, I got into BIG CARS. I bought My station wagon, but that wasn't big enough, so I started looking at monacos, polaras, newports. But nothing was as rightus as our old gold 66 crown we had. (Sold it :(  Then, one fatefull day, I saw it! the 64, sitting at a car lot two blocks away from my sister's work in Reno, NV. It was love at first start up. I had to rescue it. Bought it for 1300, took it home to Elko, NV. On the way out, a coupule blocks away, there was a 63 for sale for the same price! WHAT WERE THE ODDS!

So far, I havent done anything because it's covered in snow and I don't like laying down in snow. I drove it once and wow, Like driving a luxury tank. Well, nice to know that i'm not the only young guy that likes REAL cars instead of those little buzz bombers :)  Thank You.

P.S. Restoration can be for the young, all you need is a yoda in the field of cars. (Dads, older friends, books, mags, research, Car shows are good because you can ask people qestions) Don't give up! You will get to it some day. It's a slow road on limited funds, but you will get to the end.

I dont know if this one went through the first time. Resending...

I was 16 when I bought my '62 crown coupe. I am 19 now and I haven't driven it yet. I dont have a garage to work in during the winter and its been killing me. It turns out, after trying everything else and wasting about a year of work, I need a new set of heads. One is cracked, and probably warped. I was on this mailing list back when I first got the car but I changed emails since then.
Other than the heads, the breaks and transmission need work until its functional. After that, everything else pretty much needs to be fixed.
Restoration is not for the young my friends...I have the time and energy... but not the funds nor the wisdom.
WORK LIST:
Trans.
brakes
trunk pan - rusted out
underside of hood - cancerous
driver seat fabric
carpet
interior trim/chrome rusted
body rust and paint
front passenger window motor
interior door handles, broken off(found them in the glove box)

Its a long road for me. The only way I can afford to fix this thing is to sell it!!!! GAAAAAHHHHH!!
