Re: IML: my 1961 Imperial wirering burned up

The Bulkhead connector is where the VERY LARGE main harness of wires come through the firewall.  In most car there is connector that is about 4" by 4" and has rows and columns of small squares, circles or rectangles where the metal wire terminals are located.  It is normall located somewhere to the driver's left of the steering column.

Yes a bad regulator will cause jumping of the guage. Also like they say check all wires. Check the bulkhead connector. Usually a burnt wire will not allow juice to flow thu.

The two wires coming off the amp meter seem to be burnt the worse. I have the dash taken apart. I'm splitting open all the taped wires looking for any burnt ones. It seems to have started inside the car. Another question. For five years now I have been trying to figure out where the light source plugs into the push button heater controls. That's the only area that doesn't light up. For the life of me I just don't see how a light source attaches to those clear push buttons
