Hello again all, I have a question about my car running hot.
For reference, it's a 56 Savoy 6cyl automatic. 80,000 + miles.
I've owned it for 10 years.
It's running hot when I'm at an idle in the summer in traffic, like waiting
in rush hour traffic at a toll booth. Any other spped is ok, the needle will
run about 1/2.
I've never removed the radiator and I've never changed the thermostat. I
made a couple weak attempts at the thermostat, but since I did the water
pump and broke every bolt and broke two bolts for the exhast manifold, I
decided not to mess with the thermostat.
I'm running the stock fan and the fan shroud. If I increase the idle while
in traffic, the temp does drop a little.
Any suggestions. Should I get a fan with more blades ?
