I think one thing we're forgetting is that the material Chrysler used in the '50's was very poor quality. As a kid I rode in a lot of late model ForwardLook Dodges, Plymouths and DeSotos and the only upholstery that wasn't shot in a few years was a '57 Dodge Coronet.
