I see there is interest about the exact date of the 1954 Life magazine
issue that has an extensive advertising section introducing all the 1955
Forward Look cars. Sorry, I should have included that info with my
original message.
The issue of Life magazine to look for is November 22, 1954. All
divisions, including Imperial, are given a two-page spread with beautiful
photos or illustrations. Chrysler did similar advertising in Life to
introduce the 1957 and 1958 models. I don't have the 1955 issue that
introduced the 1956s, so I can't positively say there was one, but it
seems highly likely.
As some of you may recall, the old Look magazine did a special issue each
fall to introduce all the new Detroit cars. Photographs were taken
especially for this new car issue and are often much more creative than
the typical factory photos. I have issues of Look that introduced the
1960 through 1962 models, and I know these new car issues were done into
the early 1970s. I don't, however, know what year they first appeared.
