[FWDLK] 55-56 Disk Brakes .. Idea/interest

I was sitting around a campfire over the weekend with some friends, one
dragraces and another sells machine tools and dies. I complained that it is
unlikely that I will be able to put disk brakes on my 55 Savoy or any king
pin suspension car.
We figured that if I could come up with a part that used a spindle, disk
brake carrier, rotors and brakes etc from newer MOPAR product, but instead
of attaching to the upper and lower control arms with ball jounts have it
created to match the upper and lower control arms on the car. (or
alternatively have custom made upper and lower control arms made to accept
an existing ball joint spindle etc)
The plan that was hatched was that if I could come up with a technical
specification for a part I could probably have it custom made. I figure the
best way to determine if this is feasable is to throw it out to the
collective knowledge of this esteemeded list:
1) Has anyone tried this before?
2) Does anyone have or know where to get engineering specs for the 55-56
front suspension?
3) Are there any clearance problems or other obvious problems that I need to
condsider? My guess is that placement of the steering tie rods will be a
factor.
4) If it is feasable is anyone interested in obtaining a set of whatever I
come up with.
Cost will be a factor but I figure if there is enough interest and I can
come up with a good technical spec I can put it out to bid and see what
happens.
All input will be appreciated. Also if anyone has any experience in this
field and can lend some advice to save me from myself.
You can respond directly to me or the list, I will compile the information
and report back.
Thanks in advance,
Scott
