Re: [FWDLK] convertables

A fairly relable book I have shows that in the following years:
57
Belvedere only for $2,638 Prod. 9,941
No Plaza, Fury, and safe bet no Suburban converts made :>)

58 Belvedere Only
$2,762 Production 9,981
See NO note above

59
Bevedere $2,814 Prod. 5,063
Sport Fury #3,125 Prod. 5,990
see NO note above and add Regular Fury(convert only in Sport Fury)

A few year back everyone got the idea that converts were dead and quit
making them, so an outfit in Florida would buy 2dr sedans and reeingineer
the frames and bodies into converts. Then Mopar wized up and brought out
the Chrysler Lebaron? convert, it took Ford and GM a year or two to get
back into the production line again.
I believe what is being talked about in the 50's models is that there
were a few "Custom" shop out there that would take a 2drht and redo it into
a convert by adding the frame bracing and bows to a hardtop, it wasn't correct
but the ones I saw as a kid looked good but didn't work correctly because
nothing
really fit right and you could end up with just about any kind of hydralics in
them.
