[FWDLK] Smoking 318 solved

 To all concerned,
 It appears that the smoking 318 problem is solved. Thank you all for
your help. Lars gets a special thanks for steering me towards the
muffler. He suggested something had built a home in the exhaust. While I
don't think that was the case, it led me to consider the muffler, which
when removed was found to be very very heavy.
I replaced it and let it sit and run for about 25 minutes, the car got
good and hot but never smoked. I didn't even have to add any snake oils
to the gas or oil. Yesterday was a good day.
