[FWDLK] Sheet Metal Replacement 58 Belvedere

hi george, yes you are best removing old panels by drilling out the spot
welds this way you can just weld through the holes when replacing, if you are
removing the whole trunk floor you can split it along the join over rear axle
but ifyou are haveing it blasted do so before removing as it tends to distort
the metal, you can make the receses in the floor buy making a rectangle out
of angle tack welding to a sheet of steel and then warming it around and
taping down and so again with a smaller rectangle the supports can be made in
one long piece and the cut bent and welded, if your floor is ok in you parts
car you can cut these out and use them , the receses for your body mounting
can be made buy using two pieces of tube and knocking the smaller one into
the larger one with the piece of metal between them, its a bit difficult to
axplain but if you give me a fax number i will send some diagrams, good luck

Thanks Paul. I reposted your reply so
everyone else on the list would have the benefit of learning something,
and/or make any coments. I do not have a fax, but would appreciate some
scanned diagrams, if you can do this. I kind of get the picture with the
rectangle, for the recessed sections. The tubes for the body mount recesses
are a bit confusing. I think I know what you mean though.

Any of you have any advice as to the kind of welder
I will need to do these repairs?? Have any opf you other guys out there
fabricated your own floor pans?? ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
TRYING TO SHAKE OFF THE RUST AND KEEP ON GOING!! LOL!
