Re: [FWDLK] 1959 Dodge Engine Colors -- A Question

I guess I should have given more info. I have a 361. So, the valve covers are Red only if it is a D500 car? Otherwise, they are silver? And the PS pump, that should be black, as are the brackets? Thanks.

James -

It depends on which engine you have.  If it's a 326 Coronet engine, the engine is silver (including the valve covers); the air cleaner housing is red; the brackets that hold the p/s pump, for example, are black; the fan is black.  For the 361 and 383s, I can't say for certain, but I believe that the engine is silver; accessory brackets and fan are black, and the valve covers may have been red for the D500 options.  The air cleaner housings are black, except for the dual quad setup, which is gold.

I gather that the 2 colors on the engine are Silver (Block, heads, manifold) and Red (Valve covers, sparkplug retainers, fan, and Power Steering pump/bracket). Is this correct?? What is the correct red to use? Any additions or subtractions?
