Re: [FWDLK] Classic Car Museum

Ken,

I have been to that musuem. It used to be called Bellum's. They actually had a Tucker at one time. I visited the musuem in 1987 and I took my kids back in 1994 to show them the Tucker. The car was gone. The owner told me that one of the original guys who was working with Tucker came to the museum and wanted to buy the car. He told the owner that it was one of the last ones built. He said they built the last 4 by hand and they ran out of parts. He then crawled under the car and showed the owner the "wooden leaf springs". The owner told me he came to an agreement with him and sold the car. The car was light green.

They had the Avanti that Elvis had ordered and also some oddball Lincolns including one with the first air conditioning. It is a great place. They used to have a collection of phonographs and music machines but they auctioned them off.

If anyone on the list ever gets to Indiana, the Studebaker museum in South Bend is excellent. There is also a small museum in Kokomo that has a number of forward look cars in it.

Mike
