Re: [FWDLK] A sad day

Oyvind,

Be wary of what insurance guys offer for repair or replacement cost of your
car. Their first loyalty is to their employer and they are notorious (at
least in this country) for offering less for your car than it is worth, and
pushing you to accept it. You should get bids for the repair yourself from a
couple of good reputable bodyshops and an independent evaluation of the
pre-accident value of the car in your country.

My one experience with an insurance adjuster when my car was rear ended was
his first offer of $300, that eventually went up to $1100 by the time I
settled.

Thanks Dan. I'd really prefer to have my 55 rebuild if that is possible.
There are n't to many of these around, especially the St. Regis, and I feel
an obligation to keep this one around as long as possible. I had my first
talk with the insurance company today, and at least the guy handling the
case seemed like a nice enough guy. He was a specialist on accidents
involving classic cars. However, he had n't had the chance yet to look very
closely at my case. He asked me to call back on thursday. If that does n't
work out, I will certainly be on the lookout for a replacement Forward Look
Mopar, either here in Scandinavia or in the US, but I' ll have to wait and
see first. Thanks again. I might also buy a second car, in either case. I
going to see another 55 New Yorker two door hardtop for sale here in Norway
tomorrow (not a St. Regis), but that one is not in as good condition as the
other one before the crash.

Oyvind
