Personally, I've won more auctions by being one of the first bidders than I have waiting until the last minute, but maybe that's just me.
 
One of my biggest pet peeves aren't the people who sit around waiting for the end, but the bidding services that put in bids FOR people right before the auction is over.
I've watched a few auctions while ending and caught last second bids with literally 10 or 20 seconds left in the auction.  I usually have time for another bid or two when that happens.  Only once or twice though do I remember getting in a bidding war with someone within the last minute of an auction, which kinda means to me it was probably one of those stupid services putting in bids most all of the other times...kinda stupid if you ask me.

I agree with Bill and Neil i will always wait till the last minutes before i bid.Thats why i was sitting on my thumbs when those 60 dodge shift buttons went away on me just a couple days ago.Jack in Michigan
