Bill, new wrinkle in Alberta, if you have no previous record of Alberta registration, then you have to perform an out of province vehicle inspection form. This is a comprehensive safety check and verification of serial number.  So its impossible to do with a say a restoration project or parts car. When I did my last car, the AMA did a search on the VIN number to see if it had ever been registered in another project then issues a request for an out of province inspection.
