Hey Neil -

I was also in favor of using a single stage paint until we did sprayouts and
the base coat/clear coat looked identical to the single stage (my yellow and
your red are both non-metallics).  The 2-stage is more durable, less subject
to fade, and in the event of a chip or scratch, is much easier to repair
(spot repair vs repaint of whole panel).  Have your body guy do sprayouts if
you  are not convinced.  BTW, my body guy did not buff the paint after
spraying.  It looks great as is, IMHO.
