I have not done mine yet but I did take my car apart.The headliner is glued
to the edges of the body along the window lines.  The moldings, all of them,
will have to come off. and the new one glued in place (contact cement?)
The headliner is also glued along the rear window frame BEFORE the glass and
rubber gasket is installed.  I am told that is is possible to just work the
headliner material under the gasket, (I am NOT taking out my glass that  the
only part of the car that did not come apart) the trick will be avoiding
wrinkles doing it like this. The interior guys I talked to  told me they
would never make any $$ if they had to pull the glass so it has to be
possible to do it you just have to factor in their experience level and
figure out for yourself it you can swing it.

Did you find a source for the headliner itself?

Would anyone on the list like to give me some general advise for
installing a headliner?   I have a two door hardtop 1956 Dodge.  I know
that I need to keep the bows in the same order they came out when I do
the re-installation.    The headliner is a ivory cloth material.  Do I
have to remove the moldings?   Do I / Can I use glue or tacks?   Do I
have to remove the front or rear window?   How do I get a good "wrinkle
free" job done?   I assume that I will want to remove the seats to be
able to move around.  What tools do I need?   Should I even attempt this
job by myself?   Do I need a helper or should I just let the
professional upholstery shop $$$ do it?

Any advice from the experts?   Thanks in advance for the kind replies.
