Re: [FWDLK] TORSION BAR REMOVAL--HELP!

Hey Ed -

It's really no big deal.  I just did it on my 58 Ply in order to install the UCA jounce bumpers.

The torsion bars are 'at rest' when the wheels are off the ground.  So jack up the front of the car.  Then loosen the retaining bolt at the rear torsion bar mount.  You may want to squirt some oil into the area where the torsion bar meets the LCA, just in case it's rusted in there.  Then just wiggle it from the rear until it dislodges.

Subject: [FWDLK] TORSION BAR REMOVAL--HELP!

Hello List members

Does anyone have experience in removing torsion bars???

Specifically 57/58 PLYMOUTH???
Are there any 'tricks' I should know?
I have read the service manual and it states to release the tension on the bars by unadjusting the pivot adjustment bolt.
Do you totally remove the bolt??,,or just loosen it as much as possible?

A torsion bar 'removal tool' was highlighted recently by Wayne Graefen of the list,,does anyone have experience with it?

Thanks for your help
