The aluminum case A904 Torqueflite was introduced in 1960 along with the
slant six.   That was the first Torqueflite mated to a six cylinder engine.
Prior to 1960 Torqueflite was only available with a V8 engine.   In 1959
Powerflite was available on both six and eight cylinder engines but in 1960
Powerflite became a V8-only unit.

So that 1961 6-cylinder Seneca has an A904 Torqueflite.

hello all,

so was the slant six backed by an iron torqueflite or the A-904/727
equivalent? a friend just picked up a '61 seneca 2dr sed, 29xxx mile car
with what looks like the aluminum trans....???  a late '61 or just a /6
thing?

ALSO,
anyone interested in a 61 Pioneer 2dr hardtop?  fact 318/TF car, orig paint,
all galss and structural body parts excellent, soft front floors and trunk
on the pass side.  can throw in a 383/727 setup.

just reply privately if so, may list on ebay in a few weeks
