Re: [FWDLK] How to best avoid Gasoline spewing out the filler??

I carry a piece of an inner tuber, about 12" square, with a hole cut out of
it. When I go to a gas station, I slip the section over the filler neck
end. That leaves the rest shaped like a funnel. If any gas spills, it's
away from the vehicle. Then I just pull it off and go!

It seems to me that you could take off the tank, install a nipple on the
top, and run a vent howe up into a fender well. This would require a
safety valve end, in case of a roll over, but it would relieve the trapped
air so it wouldn't burp back thru the filler.

I know we wished Chrysler had taken the designers of that particular area
out to the parking lot and made them fill up a thousand cars each. Bet
they'd thought about everything a little longer after that!
