Just goes to show how you have to educate yourself if you're buying a car.
The serial number they give for it doesn't exist in my book (LD3V prefix -
is that supposed to be LD3N?) and they give it as an engine number, which
should be L350-xxxx unless the engine's incorrect (I didn't bother to read
up on other years). Seller appears to be uniformed about these cars -
given the Krause book can be bought on eBay for $10 or less, that's kind of
inexcuseable on a car selling for close to $10K. Heck I just got their
standard catalog for 1946-1975 cars for all of a buck - the shipping still
only brought it to $6.
Paint was probably matched to some sheltered area of the body, given the
quality of the resto I'd be surprised if a lot of time was taken to matching
it exactly as opposed to picking a color that was close and using that
instead.
I may sell rusty pieces of junk, but at least I show you the problems
instead of slapping a bunch of filler on it, spray-bombing it and letting
you discover it only when you come see the car in person.
Speaking of which, anyone on here need '58 Saratoga 2dr parts? I finally
bought the tan one I've shown pictures of around before. I won't call it
unrestorable, but it's so rusty it's not economically realistic to try to
save - someone needed a window, so I got it for that. (it has the popular
invisible rocker panel option installed by mother nature, along with
invisible floorpans - very rare! ... hmm, I should try that in an eBay
auction and see what kind of reaction that gets. lol - )
