Re: [FWDLK] 489 or 741 case

HELLO,
You also need to know for sure if you have an 8 1/4 or 8 3/4 Ring Gear case. The 2 rear ends look alike. The 489 case I believe came later and has larger bearings and the number is cast on the housing.  JOE   56 Desoto's

Hi everyone,

I'm hunting for a ring and pinion set on eBay for my '58 Belvedere.
Sometimes they are listed as "for a 489 case" or "for a 741 case". What's
the difference and which one applies to the '58 Plymouth ?

Thanks.
