[FWDLK] help

I have a '55 Ply - 6 cyl - auto trans- What do most of you do to substitute for Type A trans oil especially when the car already has some in the trans? When I need to refill I have used Mercon II to Type F--I know I shouldn't be doing this but I simply cannot find type A oil around here.

 

Another question: where can I find the distributor points plate?
