Sounds more like the sending unit than the gauge. The FSM might have a procedure for testing the gauge. Usually by grounding the wire while a helper watches the gauge.

Any hints on fixing a gas gauge? When I filled here up the gauge only went
to half way. Has anyone had that problem or know a fix? Also has anyone
order the info available through Chrysler? Is it all the info and pictures
one would want?
