Ted,
Go down to your local builder's supply store and ask to see their door
skins.
I just picked up a pair of luan door skins at Home Depot yesterday for
just that purpose. They are two-ply plywood panels about 1/8s inch thick
and measure 3 ft.X 7ft., $5.99 each.
