Re: [FWDLK] Unfinished Restoration of 1958 Chrysler Wagon

Urethane clear-coat paint is the modern-marvel/dirty-little-secret of
the auto body shop trade.

Unless 'you' are working with a multiple-stage- and-color irridescent
paint job and/or are trying to get that always-wet/ foot-deep
appearance, so very favored by low-riders & Sema wannabe's, a clear coat
covers a plethora of paint application mistakes.

A cloear-coat, applied over rough, uneven base coat smooths out the
texture, just like brushing-on paint, to the underside of a mirror.

The clear coat can get polished-out, but the underlying coats need no
special attention.

Also, body shops 'demand' to be paid , for a complete-panel re-paint,
when they repair a dented fender, but, usually, they just touch-up/blend
the base color, then re-shoot clear, over the panel, so that it looks
like the entire panel had been painted.
