Group,

What is the trick to this? I changed the oil and filter on my car this afternoon and had a terrible time of it. The new filter came with a rubber gasket to be used on the bottom of the canister. How do you get this very large rubber gasket to seal correctly (much less line up)? As a result, I have a large puddle of oil to clean up and a problem to solve. Assistance please. P.S. This might be the final straw to get a converter to the new type oil filters from “hot heads”.

DO NOT BE ALL FIRED UP TO WRENCH IT DOWN FAST. go slow and when the lip of the canister gets almost to the base, take it easy and make sure to finger around the lip feeling that the gasket is still in place.
Remember NICE AND EASY!!!!
(at least thats what I remember)
