[FWDLK] Fwd: [FWDLK] Holy GRAIL, Batman !

Amen Neil you hit this one out of the park. But it's like anything that people become attached to, on an emotional level. We that were there, became apart of Miss B. Unfortunately those that couldn't make it will never know. But maybe some of them can make it to the reunion for what its worth, the more the merrier.

Yes, Virginia, there IS a Holy FWDLK Grail, and it was buried in front
of the Tulsa County Courthouse, on June 15, 1957 , and was unearthed ,
during the prime of our car-lives, on June 15, 2007.

The best/puriest emotional ties lie with those objects of affection
which are cherished for their intrinsic value, as opposed to their
having any monetary or remunerative value.

Many of us cared about the condition of the car, before its unearthing,
and still care about its condition and preservation, regardless of our
NOT having any ulterior/financial motives in its
ultimate disposition.

We have profound emotional attachment to the car because many of us made
pilgrimages to see its unearthing, and we were emotionally impressed
when we saw its magnificent desolation.

The car seemed to cry out for protection, after having been abused by
its stay, in the vault.

Its condition is JUST like many of our loves, for  Forwardlook vehicles;
if we "have" to explain out attachment.involvement, "you" wouldn't
understand.......

Folks, please, it's not the holy grail !!!

It's just a poor production car which ended up in the hands of a bunch of 1950's hucksters and then in the hands of their kids/grandkids/nephews/TV stars/local yokels/wannabes.

I don't care what they say about it, just spell "Tulsa" right... and often...

The debacle started 50 years ago.

Subject: [FWDLK] Buried Belvedere Debacle Begins...

http://www.tulsaworld.com/webextra/content/2007/buriedcarunearthed/articles.aspx?articleID=071102_238_A1_hUnea05642

1. Car leaves Tulsa with great expectations that it'll be brought back to
its former glory
2. Few pics on the Ultra-One website of the Process beginning, then nothing.
3. Word comes that the Process is taking a bit longer than expected.
4. Article appears in a 'paper of record' that car far worse than expected
(true or not true--it doesn't matter) and lots more money is needed to bring
the car back (Who's paying for this anyway ???)
5. Lots of finger-pointing, charges, threats of lawsuits, etc.
6. Ultra-One decides that they want nothing further to do with this. Leave
car outside where is deteriorates.
7. Car is parted out and pieces are sold on ebay. 'Own a piece of history',
etc.
8. The sorry end to a car that brought so many people together.

Ron
