Re: [FWDLK] Any old drag racers out there?

Brent,

The car spent all of its life in Texas but was sold new by Friendly Motors in Shreveport,LA. I was given the name of a race track by the guy that replaced the original Chrysler 3 speed manual with a Caddy LaSalle manual trans. But do you think I can find that piece of paper with the track name on it now…..I know it’s somewhere…..

Also the original owner of the car was Charlie Royal, who owned/raced a number of race cars through the ‘50s and had entries in the Mexican Road Race etc. If anyone comes across anything on him, I’d be interested to hear about that too.

Thanks much for any help.

   Owen,

I’m restoring a ’57 Chrysler 300C stickshift car and from previous owners and documentation I found, the car spent some time running the ¼ mile through the ‘60’s and possibly into the 70’s. Both front side glass have a white painted strip about 1 inch wide by 4-5” long on the outside face of the glass. Two stripes on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. Does this have any significance with drag racing of that era? Anybody have any memories of markings like this? I can send pics of the glass.

Thanks for any leads.
