Seems to me the material has to be removed from the ends of the shoes 
rather than the middle.  If the shoes are too small, then removing 
material form the center would fit them, but the center of the shoe 
would be thinner and the smaller patch would wear out 
prematurely?  Am I thinking about this correctly?
