Re: [FWDLK] 413 Rod Bearings

Is there a corresponding notch, formed in the mating surface of the connecting rod joint? Some engines use a small hole in that spot as a means to squirt oil on the cam lobes. You could duplicate the notch on the new insert with a small round file, it wouldn't affect the load carrying capacity of the bearing, it might even be beneficial for the cam since modern motor oils are somewhat lacking in protection for older engines.

Hello;

I am in the process of putting a 413 back together, polished crank etc.. taking my time. I purchased a rebuiliders kit has Clevite bearings. I have a question about the rod bearings. My originals top and bottom have a half moon when put together forms a circle, this circle is for oil flow around the rod bearings. The new Clevite rod bearings do not have this setup for oil flow. Does anyone know of a brand that does?

A picture of the two bearings, old and new, can be found at www.myimperials.com/bearings

Thanks;
