Taking his inventiveness one step further, Ford also took whatever scraps of wooden crates that he couldn't use, added in the sawdust, and created charcoal briquettes.  He soon sold the process to E.G. Kingsford and, thus, for years also had a built-in market for selling his factory's many, many wood scraps.
