Re: [FWDLK] So, what do WE owe, to Henry Ford?????

Another tid-bit to waste away the day:
Henry Ford saw the engines coming in from Dodge in wooden crates, thought, and had the contract specs. changed.
He provided specs for the crate which included having holes here and there and this size by that size. When the engines were uncrated, the crate parts were sent to the body shop.
There they became the floorboards with the holes for the clutch and brake pedals already in the correct place.
This way he had Dodge make parts for his cars for free.
Smart man,
Ray

Well, the Dodge brothers, Horace and John, built the engine for the Model T Ford. They went off on their own in 1914 to build a car for those who wanted a real car. Henry tied up their Ford stock for years in spite. Ford was a despot and more of an efficiency expert than a car man.
