Each window has an associated pair of pins and color wire pairs. In order to determine which ones are related to an inoperative window, you would have to be looking at the back of the switch. If the illustration were of the front of the switch, you would see four switches, not eight pins. Also, from a logical/useability standpoint, the driver would want the switch that operates his window to be closest to him, so he doesn't have go searching for it. Right ?

Yet another crazy way to view the diagram.................

The switch CLOSEST to the window motor is for the left front window

HENCE--rear switches still powers front windows

HI RON
I dont mean to get silly
but...........................
If you are looking at the back of the switch..
Basically you are then looking from the OUTSIDE of the car

Front is still front--rear is still rear

hence, the front buttons still operate the rear windows

The switch closest to the driver operates the window closest to the driver, ie., the Left Front window. On Page 429 of the 57/8 shop manual it shows the configuration. BUT in the illustration, you are looking at the BACK OF THE SWITCH. So when you flip it around, all is correct.
